Description

Wooden mekugi-nuki tool can be used to remove the bamboo peg from a nihonto or fusion style handle when disassembling a knife for cleaning or sharpening.

Hand carved from interesting pieces of the same Magnolia used for handles, softer than metal versions to help prevent damage to mekugi and tsuka. May be adjusted or re-dressed as needed over time with a carving knife or fine sandpaper. Various sizes range ~70-90mm (~2.5-3.5″) long. Narrow tip fits standard tanto and kotanto.

Cords are from reclaimed hand-twisted vintage natural aizome (indigo) cotton jinbei/samue threads. Also available in a live edge pear wood.

Material: Hand carved wood reclaimed from making handles and scabbards. Finished with 100% pure tung oil.
