Description
The raw material for this piece was another find from cleaning up the seaside at one of our beautiful Vancouver Island beaches. Recently I found a heavy duty bolt that seems to be fairly old and performs like wrought iron in a break test. The years of corrosion and abrasion at the seaside left a beautiful textured surface like a meteorite under the layers of rust.
This would make an excellent desktop sculpture, third object, or conversation piece as its heft, textures, and lines invite handling and inspection. A lower carbon blade, this dagger is not sharp and therefore one of the Serious Letter Opener series.
The dagger was hand forged from a reclaimed bolt and finished mainly by hand using files. The blade is 5″ long and the overall length is about 10.75″.
Material: Reclaimed wrought iron
Price: $200
