Antique Sale – Fuchi/Kashira, higo sakura

Antique fittings in search of a new home to care for them.

Out of stock

A few select items from the collection are moving out and looking for new homes, proceeds will be invested in the workshop and materials for current projects. Likely ~50y or less but may be older, this vintage set from Japan could be added to a collection or used for restoration or study, sold as is.

A nice black dark chocolate natural urushi over rust patina, iron base with nunome-zogan gold/silver inlay/overlay in the pattern of sakura (cherry blossoms) and vines with leaves. The fuchi and kashira are a matched set in higo style with the yama-no-michi (winding mountain road) on the pommel.

Sakura are a ubiquitous symbol in Japan and are most often associated with transience and the delicate passing nature of finite things.
