This medium sword rack has a very old style “wabisabi” look. The antlers have been lacquered with thin layers of pure natural urushi lacquer to build up a deep glossy patina. The unique darkened and sculpted finish of the Cedar base is called shou sugi ban (焼杉板) or yakisugi, and has been sealed with pure natural tung oil. Height is about 14″, width 12″, and depth just under 8″. The stand is suitable for large tanto (~10-12″ blade) up to wakizashi (~16-22″ blade) and the dark colour scheme looks lovely with shirasaya in that size range as well.
Material: reclaimed Red Cedar, antler sheds, reclaimed leather, Bamboo, natural urushi lacquer
