Taken on an afternoon hike through bamboo grove and hinoki (Cypress) forest on a mountain side in Kansai, Japan. Hinoki is beautiful, fragrant, decay-resistant, and straight growing.

Hinoki Cypress bark provides a very interesting roofing material similar to thatch but far more durable, the technique is known as hiwada-buki.
